COMPARE YOUR OPTIONS TO BEAT PROSTATE CANCER
Based on worldwide experience and long-term effects in treated patients, it is clear that patients after proton therapy maintain a high quality of life compared to other treatment options.
Understandably, the patient’s most serious concern is whether the disease may return. The Proton Center in Prague has followed patients after proton therapy treatment for prostate cancer over several years. The results showed that 5 years after treatment, 97% of patients with low-risk prostate cancer were cured and had no increase in PSA (prostate-specific antigen).*
After proton therapy, 97% of patients with low-risk prostate cancer and 90-95% of patients with intermediate-risk prostate cancer are cured.
Incontinence is the involuntary leakage of small amounts of urine which is a social and hygienic worry for the patient. For an active man, the continuous wearing of incontinence devices is a major problem. In the case of proton therapy, the risk is minimized to only 1%. Based on experience and long-term effects, it is clear that patients who have undergone proton therapy have a much higher quality of life than those who have undergone surgery. Erectile dysfunction is very common after surgery and occurs in 70-100% of patients. For any man, this enormously high risk after surgery is a major complication from a psychological point of view and has a huge impact on his future life.
